On behalf of my colleagues on the 18th National Executive Council (NEC), and the entire members of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), it is my pleasure to welcome you all to this NITMA 2014 Ceremony. Your presence is very important to us and greatly appreciated.
2014 National Information Technology Merit Award (NITMA)
Today, NCS celebrates the most outstanding achievers advancing Information Technology impact in Nigeria. The best of Nigerian Information Technology creativity and innovation has fundamentally changed, and is still changing our nation. Our society makes progress because of their accomplishments. Nigeria, not just the IT community, owes them a huge debt of gratitude. Indeed honouring these inspiring symbols is credible and visionary in promoting the long term sustainability of the IT sector and developing Nigeria’s knowledge society.
IT Personality of the Year
The IT Personality of the Year Award which is the NCS President’s award acknowledges and honours individuals that have made the most outstanding contributions through IT and IT related activities within the year. The achievements of this year’s IT Personality of the Year nominees are ground breaking and game changing. 2014 nominees are: Austin Okere, CEO of Computer WareHouse Group, Aniekan Etiebet, Managing Director of Data Sciences, Collins Onuegbu, Managing Director of Signal Alliance and Segun Akano, Managing Director of Upperlink limited.
Fellowships award – Honorary and Professional
In today’s event, deserving individuals who have distinguished themselves with exceptional achievement and service that have accelerated IT development in Nigeria will be honoured with Honorary Fellowships: Dr. Toga Gayewea Mcintosh Vice President of the Commission of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and Hon. (Engr.) Ibrahim Shehu Gusau Phd, Chairman House Committee on ICT.
The Special Recognition Awards honour individuals and organizations in the academic, private and public sectors that have consistently and uniquely contributed and made major and distinguished positive, long-lasting impact over a significant period of time, in Nigeria through IT and IT related activities.
Promoting excellence, high performance and innovation within the Nigerian IT community is not a job for NCS alone. Special mention goes to our members and partners who have been most supportive.
