A few days to go and the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) 2014 Conference (#NCSEnugu2014) goes live in beautiful Enugu! The country’s top minds in Information technology will be connecting, collaborating and sharing insights at this year’s highly-anticipated event which will run from July 23 to 25 at Nike Lake Resort, Enugu, Nigeria.

The conference committee chaired by Moses Braimah has spent the past year conducting location and stakeholder visits and consultations, assessing plans, choosing speakers and organizing an exceptional event for attendees. As usual the focus will be on growth – growing IT industry and the profession towards growing the nation.

Delegates from across Nigeria are preparing for three days of digital stimulation, innovation, and networking. The theme at the nation’s foremost tech event this year is “Building a Knowledge-Based Economy in Nigeria: The Role of IT” and the breadth of creativity, expertise and experience is impressive. IT professionals and stakeholders across Nigeria that have already booked their places to attend the conference will get the inside track on the tech issues, opportunities and challenges in the fast evolving knowledge based economy.

In putting together, a powerful event, unlike any other, NCS has assembled a strong bank of speakers who will expertly cover knowledge economy policies, measures and solutions. It provides a unique opportunity to hear and engage with some of Nigeria’s leading policy makers, innovators and entrepreneurs in the tech space. In breaking new ground, some of these thought leaders will lead the Social media Masterclass to highlight best practice and future challenges. This year the conference will also explore policies, measures and mechanisms for creating an enabling environment for building a knowledge based economy during the plenary session hosted by National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and via the key note address from the Minister of Communication Technology, Mrs. Omobola Johnson.

In addition to practical sessions, educational offerings and networking events, the conference includes Fellows Breakfast meeting, Induction of new NCS and NiWIIT members, Chapters meeting, Finals of IT Competitions. Another highlight will be the presentation of the NCS Special Recognition Award to the Former Governor of Anambra state, Mr. Peter Obi. Other social and tech community events that will feature prominently include the Conference banquet, cultural night, Research consortium and NACOSS night. The NCS Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the society will also be held on Friday, July 25, 2014.

Special thanks to Speakers, Discussants and Sponsors for so generously supporting the event! NCS is determined to ensure candidates get the most out of their conference experience, and looks forward to all the great initiatives and opportunities that will certainly emerge.
