The Governor of Enugu State, Barrister Sullivan Chime has promised the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) an exciting stay in Enugu during her forth coming 2014 Annual Conference and AGM. This promise was made when he received the Professor David Adewumi, President NCS who led a delegation to pay a courtesy call of the governor and intimate him of plan by the Society have meet on July 23-25, 2014 in Enugu.
“Enugu is a very peaceful state and we have very good facilities which will adequately take care of your over 1,000 local and international delegates coming for the conference.” says Governor Chime.
Professor Adewumi informed the governor that Enugu was chosen as the 2014 Host State because of the great strides the state is making in the use of technology to drive public service delivery.
“We are aware that Enugu State has decided to make the public service technology-driven and your excellency has embarked on the training of all civil servants in other for them to have basic computer skills. This indeed will ensure better governance and transparency.” Adewumi said.
He further made the governor know that the state activities are in line with the conference theme. “Building a Knowledge-Based Economy in Nigeria: The Role of Information Technology”
Critical issues that will be focused on include; broadband access for all: Strategies and Tactics, business process outsourcing, e-governance Solutions: Improving Transparency and Public Sector Service Delivery through Technology, Security Issues in a Knowledge-Based Economy, Training and Education for the Youths and IT Industry in Nigeria, Manpower Development and Income Generation, and Harnessing innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship: Opportunities for the youths.
Also, on the agenda will be Social Media Masterclass, Mobile Application Technology in Nigeria: A Case Study for Innovation & Transformation, IT Applications in the Different Sector of the Economy, and Application of knowledge Technologies and Engineering in National Development.
Members of the NCS President delegation include; Moses Braimah, NCS Chairman of Conferences; Chinedu Onuoha, NCS Executive Secretary; Dadson Nwakalor, Chairman NCS Enugu Chapter .
The Governor promised to partner with NCS towards the hosting of a successful conference.
