Registration is now open for the 2013 editions of the National IT competitions for students in Nigeria. The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) is calling for participation in the Olatunji Odegbami National Information Technology Competition for Tertiary Institutions and the National Information Technology Whiz Kids Competition.
Students and schools in Nigeria are invited measure up to their peers and global standards in these competitions designed by NCS to exhibit and reward Information Technology excellence and innovation amongst children and the youth of Nigeria.
Two Annual National IT Competitions for Students
National IT competitions for young people in Nigeria are organized annually to discover excellent young talents in the nation with the ability to set global standards in IT. While the National Information Technology Whiz Kids Competition focuses on Secondary School students, the Olatunji Odegbami National Information Technology Competition is for all interested students in all tertiary institutions including Universities, Polytechnics and colleges of Education in the country.
Baptist Boys High School, Abeokuta, Ogun State represented by Festus Ogunbayo and Isreal Oludare emerged winners of the 2012 National Information Technology Whizkids Competition.
NCS established the Olatunji Odegbami National IT Competition for Tertiary Institutions in honour and memory of Chief Olatunji Odegbami the Fourth President of the Computer Association of Nigeria (COAN) and the Second President/Chairman of Council of the Computer Professionals (Registration Council of) Nigeria (CPN). Emmanuel Gregory Essiet of University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State won the 2012 Olatunji Odegbami National Information Competition.
The 2012 finals of both competitions were held during the NCS Annual conference in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state in July 2012.
The 2013 finals of both competitions will be held during the NCS Annual conference in Iloko-Ijesa, State of Osun in July 2013.

Designated zones for Whiz Kids zonal competitions are: South-East, South-South, South-West, North-West, North-East, North-Central, Abuja
Interested Secondary Schools should complete the registration form online for two (2) candidates with evidence of payment of N2, 000.00 (Two thousand naira only) registration fee. Only students from SS1 to SS3 are eligible to participate.
